Jimmy Clausen, c'mon down!!!

Words can not describe the amount of happiness running through my veins as the announcement came through that my Carolina Panthers had picked up Jimmy Clausen.
For the past three years, the Cats have been struggling with inconsistency at the QB position. Jakey D was effin' up royally and it seemed that nobody in the entire organization gave a crap.
But this year will be different. This year, we've got (we hope) at least two solid QBs. They're young and they'll make mistakes, but I'd rather have them than some old guy making mistakes. #shotsfired #poorcleveland
This year will be one of rebuilding and restructuring. While we do have a pair of running backs in D'Angelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, we can't just fun the ball every down. We've got an awesome receiver in Steve Smith and picked up two receivers with a lot of potential in drafting Brandon LaFell and QB/receiver Armanti Edwards.
Nobody has even mentioned re-signing Mushin Muhammad and that's unfortunate. I think he was solid in that No. 2 position. I must say though, with Edwards coming in as a QB/receiver, a part of me hopes he turns into another Hines Ward. Ward has been so effective as a receiver, folks forgot he was a QB in college.
Even if Edwards turns into another Ward, what good will it do if we don't have anyone who can get him the ball? My hope is that Clausen, Edwards and LaFell are able to bring with them the tenacity needed to get us to the post season. They'd better hope so, anyway, or Foxy will be looking for a job come mid-season.
I hope that the offensive coordinator won't be too scared to put the ball in the air. Right now, we've got a rep for ALWAYS running the ball. I hoping that with Clausen's arrival and Matt Moore already being in the groove, we'll be able to shed that and Carolina can become the team to beat in the NFC South. Lord knows nobody wants to deal with the mouths of Eb the Celeb and 12 Kyle if my boys fall to theirs. *shudders*
All in all, I'm happy with the way we came out in the draft. Now let's get to training camp! I might even be tempted to head down I-85 South to Spartanburg to see what the fellas are up to. I might even stop being so cheap and spring for some Panthers tickets this year. Who knows?

Eb's BYE WEEK Picks : WEEK 9

The last week of normal football scheduling since in week 10 this dumb football on Thursday nights mess starts. This crap annoys the hell out of me not being able to see some of these games. I have Time Warner and the NFL's ego is too big to work out a freakin' deal with them without robbing them so I have no access to the NFL network. I wouldn't dare switch to DirecTV in NYC where as soon as it looks like its going to rain your service goes out so you still wouldn't be able to watch the game.

Anyway, let's get on with the picks for this 2nd to last week of Bye teams.

Bye Week Teams: Buffalo, Cleveland, Oakland, St. Louis, Minnesota, NY Jets

Washington at Atlanta
The Falcons really fought last week and showed they are a great team. They are going to rip the deadskins apart with ease. Eb picks Atlanta.

Arizona at Chicago
Both teams are unpredictable. Both have lost games they should have won. Arizona has the more reliable offense since you have no idea what you're going to get from Jay Cutler from week to week but I think the Bears have a chip on their should and are going to come out dominating early. Eb picks Chicago.

Baltimore at Cincinnati
The Ravens have been winning the games that no one expects them to and the Bengals 2 losses have both been at home games. Eb picks Baltimore.

Houston at Indianapolis
The Colts will still be undefeated after this game. Eb picks Indianapolis.

Miami at New England
New England hasn't lost a game at home all season and a team like Miami isn't going to come up there and get out with a W. Eb picks New England.

Green Bay at Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay has yet to win a game and today wont be the day either. Poor Green Bay wasn't able to get revenge on Brett Favre but they definitely aren't going to let a team that has yet to win a game make them look bad. Eb picks Green Bay.

Kansas City at Jacksonville
This is that game of the week that no one cares about. I'm really eeny meeny miny mo'ing it here. Eb picks Jacsonville.

Carolina at New Orleans
The Saints are the other team that will still be undefeated after week 9. Eb picks New Orleans

Detroit at Seattle
Here goes the other game of the week that no one cares about. Does it even matter who I pick in this one. Both teams suck... I don't even want to pick. Its a toss up. Eb picks Seattle.

Tennessee at San Francisco
There is nothing good to say about the Titans. They have switched things around and still nothing is working for them. Eb picks San Francisco.

San Diego at NY Giants
Do you understand how bad I wish the Giants would get their 4th loss in a row to the Chargers. I really want to pick that but I don't think its going to happen. Eb picks NY.

Dallas at Philadelphia
This is the game of the week. The battle for that #1 spot in the NFC East. My Cowboys are going to end up on top! Eb picks Dallas!

Pittsburgh at Denver
The MNF schedule has really been good this year and this should be another great game. I don't believe the Steelers and The Broncos have really worked out all their problems and have been surprising some folks. Eb picks Denver.

Eb's BYE WEEK Picks : WEEK 8

4th Bye Week so only 2 week of my picks left. Remember since I started late with my picks list year I'm only doing bye weeks and play-offs. I know you'll miss them but remember it will only be for a couple weeks and then when the play-offs come around we'll do a big contest here on the blog. So get ready.

Another 6 teams are out this week and there's no night game. What the heck am I going to do on Sunday night if there isn't any football on?

Bye Week Teams : Cincinnati, Kansas City, New England, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Washington

Houston at Buffalo
The Bills are finally starting to get some production from Lee Evans but they are so inconsistent, how can you trust them. Well I don't! But I don't trust the Texans either. Eb picks Buffalo.

Cleveland at Chicago
The Bears haven't looked the best but this should still be an easy one for them. Eb picks Chicago.

Seattle at Dallas
Everyone is healthy, Tony Romo has been on his mark, and our defense has really started to show up. I can't see my team losing to the Seahawks and I'm hoping I wont. Eb picks Dallas.

St. Louis at Detroit
This week's game that no one cares about it right here. The best chance the Rams are going to have all season to get a win but they probably wont. Eb picks Detroit.

Denver at Baltimore
Could the Ravens defense be the factor needed to go up against Denver's offense to end their undefeated season? The Ravens defense isn't the force they used to be. The Broncos should be able to make it out of this one 8-0. Eb picks Denver.

San Francisco at Indianapolis
Another undefeated team in the Colts that should have no problem making it to 8-0 today. Eb picks Indianapolis

Miami at NY Jets
Miami has had a pretty good running game with Ricky Williams and with Kris Jenkins officially on IR it might make room for them to run all over the Jets. I feel the Jets offense will be able to keep up though. I high scoring game where the Jets get them by a couple. Eb picks NYJ.

NY Giants at Philadelphia
The Giants can't possibly lose 3 games in a row could they? Nooooooo, they couldn't right? Even though I secretly hope they do, I don't think it will happen. Eb picks NYG.

Jacksonville at Tennessee
Tennessee still have yet to win a game and rumor has it that Vince Young is going to start. I've watched the couple of times they've put him in this season and that is definitely not going to fix any of the problems they have. Eb picks Jacksonville.

Oakland at San Diego
The battle of the teams with a million problems. Jamarcus got benched and the Raiders a slightly more dysfunctional than the Chargers. Eb picks San Diego

Carolina at Arizona
The Panthers look terrible on every aspect of the ball. So much talent and yet everything seems to fall apart when they are all on the field together. Even though the Cardinals have a couple banged up receivers, Kurt Warner has been making major plays no matter whose out there to throw to. Eb picks Arizona.

Minnesota at Green Bay
This is going to be the game of the day. I can't believe its time for them to play again already. First time Brett Favre and the Vikings put the smackdown on his old franchise. This time they are in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers is coming for blood. Eb picks Green Bay solely because they are at home. I can't wait to watch this game.

Atlanta at New Orleans
The Saints are the last of the 3 teams still undefeated so far this season. I think Atlanta has a good chance of beating them. The game is definitely going to be close but Drew Brees can make a play out of no play and that is what's going to give them the edge. Eb picks New Orleans.

10/25/09

Eb's BYE WEEK Picks : WEEK 7

3rd week of bye week teams, and 3 more weeks to go. In week 7 there are a lot of teams resting. Which is extremely weird since in Week 10 only the Giants and Houston have bye's. Either way here are my picks.

Bye Week Teams : Baltimore, Denver, Detroit, Jacksonville, Seattle, Tennessee

New England at Tampa Bay
Tom Brady still doesn't seem to be the Brady he was before the injury in my eyes but in no way will he let a defense as weak as the Bucs prove that he isn't. He'll probably have a great game against them. Eb picks New England.

Green Bay at Cleveland
The Browns are terrible on both sides of the ball. Eb picks Green Bay

San Diego at Kansas City
Both teams are terrible... but since the Chiefs gave my Cowboys a run for their money a couple weeks ago, and because San Diego has been falling short again this year of the expectations people had for their season, Eb picks Kansas City.

Indianapolis at St. Louis

St. Louis is on a steady path to have the same season the Detroit Lions has last year especially up against a team like the Colts. There is no way they will get their first win today. Eb picks Indianapolis.

Minnesota at Pittsburgh
This is going to be the game to watch. A lot of analyst have taken the Steelers expecting an upset. I think offensively the Vikings are on fire right now no matter what weapons the Steelers have on defense. Eb picks Minnesota

San Francisco at Houston
Does anyone care about this game??? I sure don't! So for no reason at all, Eb picks SF.

Buffalo at Carolina
A battle of the teams that suck in the purest form. In my opinion the Panthers have more talent and even know they haven't done much with it this season, I'm going to ride with them today. Eb picks Carolina.

NY Jets at Oakland
The Jets are definitely better than they played last week and they are coming for blood to prove that they are a force so the Raiders don't have a chance. Eb picks NYJ.

Atlanta at Dallas
We're rested, we're healthy and finally my boys are starting Miles Austin over Patrick Crayton like they should have been doing all season. You can go back on my twitter as evidence that I have been saying that either him or Sam Hurd should have been starting over that dude. It's finally going to happen and I feel we'll be unstoppable on offense. Granted we still have holes on defense so I expect it to be a high score game but my boys will pull it out. Eb picks Dallas.

Chicago at Cincinnati
The Bengals have been looking really good but after the Bears hard loss to Atlanta last week they are going to have a chip on their shoulder. Eb picks Chicago.

New Orleans at Miami
The Saints cant be stopped offensively. This is a no brainer. Eb picks New Orleans.

Arizona at NY Giants
The Giants reign is over. They showed their true colors last week when they showed their defense isn't as rock hard and tight as everyone had assumed. They definitely don't have a reliable secondary and even though Anquan Boldin may not play a huge factor, Steve Breaston will be there to pick up the slack. Of course you have Larry Fitzgerald on the other side and the Giants have no answers for him. Eb picks Arizona.

Philadelphia at Washington
For division purposes I wish both teams could lose... but since they can't I'm rooting for the Eagles to lose since they have the better record. Eb picks Washington.

10/18/09

Eb's BYE WEEK Picks : WEEK 6

In Week 6 my beloved Dallas Cowboys are one of the teams on a Bye Week after Miles Austin had the best performance of his professional career. The Bye Week definitely couldn't have come at a better time. There is no reason we should be struggling to beat a team like Kansas City. We definitely have some reworking to do on both offense and defense, and hopefully this week off will give a chance for these keys injuries we have in our offense a chance a heal up. Now enough about my boys, on to the picks.

Bye Week Teams - Dallas, Indianapolis, Miami, San Fransisco

Houston at Cincinnati
The Bengals are on a roll and its going to take a team that has a stronger defense to stop them and the Texans definitely aren't it. Eb picks CINCINNATI.

Detroit at Green Bay
I think the Lions make me on a quest to beat their record of the most games lost in a row since. Eb picks Green Bay.

Baltimore at Minnesota
Right now the Ravens defense is ranked 16th in the league and they are going against one of the best offenses in the league. Eb picks Minnesota.

NY Giants at New Orleans
This is going to be the game to watch. 2 undefeated teams and The Saints being one of the highest scoring teams in the league. Don't think they will put up numbers as high against the this tough Giants defense, but I don't think the Giants offense has the talent to keep up with whatever their defense allows the Saints to get on the board. Eb picks New Orleans.

Cleveland at Pittsburgh
Both teams have been painful to watch this season but The Browns have absolutely nothing going right for them right now. Plus Troy Polamalu will be back on the field. Eb picks Pittsburgh.

Carolina at Tampa Bay
Carolina finally got their first win last week. Now its the Bucs turn to get their first win. Eb picks Tampa Bay.

Kansas City at Washington
After damn near giving me a heart attack last week taking my Cowboys into overtime, I have absolutely no love for the Chiefs. I always root for the Redskins to lose but Eb picks Washington.

St. Louis at Jacksonville
This would be the perfect time for The Rams to get their first win of the season up against a far from stellar Jaguars team but since you never know who is going to start at QB, I doubt they'll be able to pull it off. Eb picks Jacksonville.

Arizona at Seattle
The Cardinals definitely haven't performed as well as I thought they would this season but they've had some major injuries in their offense. Now that everyone is back and healthy I expect them to go on a good winning streak. Eb picks Arizona.

Philadelphia at Oakland
With all the inconsistently and changes to the Eagles offense since the beginning of the season you'd think they'd be very far gone from making any kind of splash in the division but they are right in the thick of things. The Raiders don't stand a chance. Eb picks Philadelphia.

Tennessee at New England
The Patriots are on a quest to prove that they are still a force so I expect them to take all of that out on a Titans team where nothing is going right for them. Eb picks New England.

Buffalo at NY Jets
With rumors that T.O may get traded, I'm sure the little bit of chemistry that the Bills offense had, is now strained. Plus The Jets are coming for blood after their loss last week. Eb picks NYJ.

Chicago at Atlanta
So mad I'm going to miss this game tonight but I'll be at a comedy show. I love watching the Bears play. Both teams are 3-1. Devin Hester is back on offense, Matt Forte had a slow start but recently has been looking like the back he was last year. This game is definitely going to come down to Defense. The team whose defense has a stellar game is going to win this game and I believe that defense with be those Bears Monsters of the Midway. Eb picks Chicago.

Denver at San Diego
Denver has really surpised me. I thought for sure after they got rid of Cutler and all the problems with Brandon Jacobs that they wouldn't be close to being a "team to beat" this season but they proved me so wrong. Plus I'm starting to think that the Chargers will never be that team. All the talent they have and time after time they fall short. Eb picks Denver.

Feel free to chime in in the comments with your picks!

Eb's BYE WEEK Picks : WEEK 5

I'm not even going to mention how my Cowboys were jipped last week when the officials didn't call pass interference on Denver because they were all over my homie Sam Hurd but its all good. Not going to dwell on the past. Everyone is hating on my boys. Why won't they let the Cowboys be great?

Here are my picks for week 5
Bye week 2 teams are : Chicago, Green Bay, New Orleans, San Diego

Cleveland at Buffalo
Both teams suck but since Braylon is now on the Jets and because I have no idea who they have on their team to throw to now (even though I know they got Chansi Stuckey from the Jets) I'm sure he didn't learn their offense in a week so I'm riding with the Bills. Eb picks BUFFALO.

Dallas at Kansas City
We have to win this game and Kansas City is a terrible team so we shouldn't have any problems. Eb picks DALLAS.

Minnesota at St. Louis

If the Vikings are going to be stopped this season, it definitely wont be this week when they see the Ram. Eb picks MINNESOTA.

Oakland at NY Giants
A repeat of my last commentary. If the Giants are going to be stopped this season, it definitely wont be this week they play Oakland whose coach will probably be arrested before kick-off anyway. LOL. Eb picks the NYG.

Tampa Bay at Philadelphia
I don't think the Bucs are as bad as their record is eluding to. The Eagles are coming off a bye week so are fully rested but are still pretty banged up. Both Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb will be back but neither are 100%. I think its the perfect time for the Bucs to get their first win of the season. Eb picks TAMPA BAY.

Pittsburgh at Detroit
The Super Bowl champs, no matter if you believe in that curse that after you win you have a terrible season or not, there is no way they will lose to a team like Detroit. Eb picks PITTSBURGH.

Washington at Carolina
I really do think this will be the week of first wins and since The Redskins aren't really a force for anyone right now, this is the best opportunity of any for the Panthers to get their first win of the season against them. Eb picks CAROLINA.

Cincinnati at Baltimore
This is going to be the game of the week. This is going to decide whose real and whose fake (in my Swizz Beatz voice.) I'm riding with the Bengals. I think they finally have that chemistry as a whole that they have been claiming to have for the past couple of year. Eb picks CINCINNATI.

Atlanta at San Francisco
With the Falcons coming off their bye week, rest is always a good thing. SF is looking good but I'm not convinced they are really good since I haven't watched them play yet this season. Eb picks ATLANTA.

Jacksonville at Seattle
This game doesn't peak my interest in the least bit so no explanation. Eb picks JACKSONVILLE just because.

Houston at Arizona
Arizona rested last week and gave all their banged up receivers a chance to rest and all are looking to play this week. Eb picks ARIZONA!

New England at Denver
I'm extremely bitter that Denver beat us last week, so even though I hate the Patriots with a passion, I'm rooting for them to win. Eb picks NEW ENGLAND.

Indianapolis at Tennessee
The one team I have no faith will get their first week of the season in week 5 is the Titans. Eb picks INDIANAPOLIS.

NY Jets at Miami

The Jets are looking to good to go against at this point. Eb picks NYJ.

10/4/09

Eb's BYE WEEK Picks : WEEK 4

Yeah I know I've been slipping. I've forgot to post my picks the 1st three weeks of the season but the bye weeks are the best time to start anyway. This is when all fantasy football teams start looking extra thin and only the strong survive. So I will make sure I post my bye week picks every week, then rest for the final weeks of the season, and then come back with my play-off picks. Feel free to play along with me in the comments. You never know, I may have some prizes for those that participate.

And here are my picks for Week 4
Bye Week #1 - Atlanta, Arizona, Carolina, Philadelphia

Detroit at Chicago
Everybody's all hype about Detroit finally getting their first win but I think it was a fluke. They still suck as a team overall and no way are they going to come into the Monsters of the Midway territory and run all over the Bears. Eb picks CHICAGO!

Cincinnati at Cleveland
This is a no brainer. Cleveland is just terrible. They haven't won a game yet this season and looking at the lack of talent they have on their team and the week to week QB changes they don't have a chance against the Bengals. Eb picks CINCINNATI.

Seattle at Indianapolis
I wasn't a believe in the Colts after barely beating 2 sorry teams in the first 2 weeks. But last week after killing Arizona, I think they may have their mojo back. Eb picks INDIANAPOLIS.

NY Giants at Kansas City
No explanation behind the pick needed. Another no brainer. Eb picks NYG.

Baltimore at New England
I'm riding with Baltimore even though they are going to be in New England territory. NE is not that Super Bowl team and powerhouse of old. Every week they have looked a little shaky and Brady is definitely going to have a time with this Ravens defense. Eb picks BALTIMORE.

Tampa Bay at Washington
2 teams that suck equally the same... I'm going to ride with Bucs on this one. They are coming to the DMV looking for blood trying to get their 1st win of the season and I think they get it today. Eb picks TAMPA BAY.

Tennessee at Jacksonville
What I just said above this I'm going to ditto right here for this game. The Titans have to get that first win and the Jaguars performance this year has been well below stellar. Eb picks TENNESSEE.

Oakland at Houston
I have no faith in either one of these teams but since the Raiders have been playing better than they've played the last couple seasons, I'm going to ride with them. Eb picks OAKLAND.

NY Jets at New Orleans
This is going to be the game to watch. The stellar rookie QB against the QB the is leading in passing yards. I think this game is going to come down to defense and I feel the Jets have a better defense than the Saints. Eb picks NYJ.

Buffalo at Miami
Another game that no one cares about. So I'll keep it short. Eb picks BUFFALO.

St. Louis at San Francisco
The Rams don't have a chance. They are another team that is having that tag team QB situation from week to week. Plus I hate to say this but SF might be that sleeper team this year. Eb picks SAN FRANCISCO.

Dallas at Denver
Denver's record definitely does not reflect their talent. I'm riding with my Cowboys all day. Eb picks DALLAS.

San Diego at Pittsburgh
The Steelers have to get it together and quick. They definitely aren't they team they were last year but I don't think the Chargers are a definitive force either. Eb picks PITTSBURGH.

Green Bay at Minnesota
Another game I am looking forward to watching. GB defense can't do anything with Adrian Peterson. Eb picks MINNESOTA.

Now hit me in the comments. Who you got???
